Hello! i would like to ask whether I should choose Northwestern (Judd A. and Marjorie College of Arts and Sciences) or NYU's Stern School of Business. most likely i would be reading economics in uni. in terms of prestige, ranking, career prospects, etc. which uni is a better choice? :)

After some research, i found out that NYU's Stern School undergraduates start off with a higher average salary, but Northwestern seems to fare better in rankings and reputation, so I am in a dilemma.

In addition, does anyone know whether it is possible to accept and hold a place each in a UK and a US university concurrently? Cos I am still serving NS, i figure that I might change my mind about my uni choice in future...

Thanks!

I got into Northwestern too! I am probably turning down the offer though because I'd rather go to UCL for my course of study. Nonetheless, I'd personally pick Northwestern over NYU. They have very strong programs, including in Economics and are really productive in research publications (read opportunities). What you have found regarding rankings and starting salary should have direct correlation with Economics to be useful though.

Now if student life is important to you, what I know from friends is that both are more or less comparable, though I feel Northwestern has a closer knit feel. In terms of prestige, I've always seen Northwestern above, at least in American eyes, but NYU is well-known in Singapore - it depends on how you'd like to see it.

Regarding your UK and US question. I'm on the same boat, having offers from both countries. For US, it's not a good idea. Acceptance of offer is almost binding. I can't speak for UK though :/

For those who are in the industry, they view NYU Stern as a more prestigious school.

There are plethora of internship opportunities on Wall Street and if you're into the financial sector, NYU Stern is certainly a better choice than Northwestern.

You should consider that at Northwestern, you're gonna be involved in the liberal arts curriculum. Whereas at Stern NYU, you'll be in the business school, very much more specialised in this case. Which do you prefer? What are your interests? It's important to consider this.

You'd do well at both I'm pretty sure. Employers respect both very much and reputation is great as well! I'd personally choose Northwestern and major in economics as Stern is better known for its MBA rather than BBA.

I'd advise you to think carefully and make a good decision now rather than accept both US & UK schools and end up with complications.

Good choice ;) Mine is for Neuroscience though! If I do miraculously manage to secure a scholarship, we might just meet at UCL!
