like i said, just relax if you've gotten a good grade at the A's the staff at NUS admissions office are probably drowning under a lot of paperwork, as we are drowning in our remaining assignments and projects :P

And to both of the above: Be warned that PL and SC modules can be extremely expensive and you might end up spending a few hundreds of points on each module...so choose wisely!
ooo, i've more of less decided on what soci mods to take next sem onwards and i've quite a lot of bidding power seeing how my EN mods cost me only 1 point (the benefit of majoring in a major that no one else wants to major in) yay! hahaha.

Hello all!

As far as I know, FASS has sent out one round of offers already, but there's another round to go out, so don't worry!

I also heard that to major in Psychology, you now have to get a B- in the exposure module as well as one of the other maths and stats modules [can't recall which it is]. FYI! You'll have to ask the FASS people to confirm though.. I'm not too sure about the details.

If you want to know more about what to major in, the FASS Open House is also coming up on 22 May (:

And btw, FASS has a facebook page, did you know? ;D

The NUS career centre has a job portal where many, many internship opportunities are posted up... many of which are from very well known comapnies (i.e. names which makes your resume sparkle). I dare say that the industry network that the NUS career centre opens up to FASS students is tons better than NTU HSS (excluding SCI & ADM).

As a FASS student, you have to take the initiative to apply for these internships. The problem with many FASS students is that they drift through 3 or 4 years oblivious to the opportunities provided by the career centre and some of them are just too lazy to commit their holidays to gaining some real world experience... a real pity.

I attended the FASS Welcome Talk for polytechnic students today, and it cleared many of my doubts. Like what razer has mentioned, CNM has very good internship opportunities. I took a peek at the website and was pleasantly surprised by the list of companies.

I have, however, one final hurdle to clear. My mind has been thoroughly poisoned by various comments from my parents, relatives and classmates. They tell me that I am fool to choose to study arts/social sciences, because I will graduate with nothing but a general degree. A classmate of mine went as far as directing me to a Wikipedia page on mickey mouse degrees, and said that I will be graduating with one if I decide to go for FASS. I do not believe that I will do well if I choose to study something out of practicality instead of interests, but pragmatic I have to be. This is Singapore, after all.

I would therefore like to pose a question to all FASS seniors - what is your opinion on a degree in arts/social sciences?

We're in the midst of exams so I don't really have time to answer this properly, but I'll do it real quick here:

If what they say is true...then isn't that implying that the entire faculty is irrational/stupid/dumb? Why do so many people still go to FASS (including many very outstanding students)?

(:

Would probably make a longer post when the exams are over and I survive.

Good luck all juniors! Haha. Make wise choices! (:

in the real-world, there is a dd for all sorts of degree holders with different thinking and philo. thus whatever degree, general (arts, science, biz) or highly specialised (med, pharm, acc, engrg), does not correspond to future prospects.
