Default Volunteers needed to help children in Indonesia

The International Humanity Foundation (IHF) is seeking forward-thinking, dynamic individuals of all ages/backgrounds to contribute to our education centers in Indonesia.

Teach English, organise workshops/activities, care for children
Assist with community outreach projects
Learn about poverty, development, and the value of education
Still have time to explore and travel

Each IHF center is a product of its environment and follows the cultural code and norms of its host community, so there are different programs in each center. We have four centers in Indonesia, in Bali, Jakarta, Medan and Banda Aceh. Our Jakarta and Aceh centers provide homes to a small number of children, while all centers offer English, math and computer classes to disadvantaged children. With a population of over 240 million, Indonesia’s public education system often fails to give children a chance to escape the poverty they were born into. We fill that gap and give kids a chance to aim higher.

Your responsibilities will include teaching English, computer and math classes, assisting with the care of our children and organising activities. You will work four hours a day, six days a week. There is time to sightsee, but work remains a priority.

This is an ideal opportunity to gain experience in development firsthand, but still have time to explore the local area. With the chance to experience Balinese Hinduism, the busy capital of Jakarta or beautiful, wild Sumatra, Indonesia's rich and deep cultural diversity means each of our centers is unique.

Cost: $150 per week, no application fee
Basic food and accommodation included
Minimum stay 2 weeks
Fluent English is required

Please take the time to familiarize yourself further with our organization - www.ihfonline.org. And to our blog http://ihfblog.wordpress.com/home/.

If you have any questions at this time, feel free to e-mail one of our helpful volunteers - [email protected] . If you’re ready to apply visit: http://www.ihfonline.org/volunteering.

Default Volunteer to help children in Thailand

The International Humanity Foundation (IHF) is seeking forward-thinking, dynamic individuals of all ages/backgrounds to contribute to our children’s home in Thailand.

Work with children, help them to improve their English, organise workshops/activities
Visit the remote villages with the children
Learn about poverty and development
Still have time to explore and travel

Each IHF centre is a product of its environment and follows the cultural code and norms of its host country, so there are different programs in each centre. Our Thailand centre is a small home for seven hill-tribe children, most of whom are teenagers. Children from this marginalised community come to our centre for a stable home and a chance for an education.

Your responsibilities may include teaching English, assisting with the care of our children, the upkeep of the centre and organising activities. You will work four hours a day, six days a week. There is time to sightsee, but work remains a priority. This is an ideal opportunity to gain experience in development first-hand, but still have time to explore the local area. The centre is in the vicinity of incredible temples, waterfalls and scenery.

Cost: $150 per week, no application fee
Basic food and accommodation included
Minimum stay 2 weeks
Fluent English is required

Default Volunteer and Teach children in Kenya

The international Humanity Foundation is looking for bright, dynamic, charitable individuals of all ages, nationalities and background to assist us at our Kenya, Nakuru Children’s Centre.
Our centre is surrounded by fantastic views and even lovelier children. It is a perfect location as it is right in the heart of the rift valley as well as only being 2 hours away from Nairobi. With approximately 70 children, this is the biggest IHF centre, we provide everyday care to extremely underprivileged children and orphans all from the very marginalised Pokot tribe, whose conditions are some of the worst in Kenya. We try and provide these children with a safe environment where they can grow up, retain their childhood and get education.
Your role would consist of:
Every day to day care of the children, assist with chores
Assisting directors with hospital and school visits
Organising and running study/educational sessions
Partaking in one of our special projects, i.e. Survival peace farm
Help to fundraise locally and internationally
With a basic requirement of 4 hours of work a day and one day off a week, leaves plenty of time to explore the beauty of the rift valley; the centre is positioned in a very ideal spot where safaris, wild-life reserve and the lively Nakuru mid-town is just 10 minutes away by public transport.
We are sure that it will be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life, we work hard to try and improve the children’s lives and in return we are rewarded with the ever smiling faces of the beautiful children.
This also offers you an ideal opportunity to gain development work at a grass root level with a charity that expects everyone to be hands on, work is always challenging and tough but it gives you a sense of satisfaction every day.
Requirements:
Cost: $150 per week, no application fee
Basic food and accommodation included
Minimum stay 2 weeks
Fluent English is required
