Default Is SMU that stressful, competitive and workload-piling as people say to be?

I like to know, thank you.

I think all universities and their respective courses are almost equally competitive and has a lot of workload.

But it really boils down to the subjective agent.

How passionate are you in your course of study? If you really have genuine interest in the course, you wouldn't view it as 'workload' but rather something you enjoy doing.

How well do you intend to do? Are you content with just a pass or a Cum Laude? Or are you aiming for Summa Cum Laude?

I definitely have interest in the course and I am targeting Cum Laude as I don't want to be a perfectionist like in my polytechnic days and stress myself so much.
I guess you may have a point, I already know that university life will be stressful,
just that many of the internet sources points out that SMU is more stressful than other universities' equivalent courses concerns me.

Nah. I dont think so. Unless you're talking about med/law. Or courses with high proportion of foreign scholars like engineering. The other courses are not as 'stressful' as people make it out to be. I think the only thing stressful about SMU is the compulsory community service requirement. Its an added requirement that students from other universities do not need to do.

Typically, the ones who complain about courses being stressful or difficult are those who are either on the wrong side of the bellcurve or have little genuine interest in their field of study and see it as a burden.

SMU is all about being confident and articulate. Massive presentation and class debates would be going about. While for NTU and NUS, you can just be someone who hide at the corner and score A for that subject.
