not to sound impertinent, but why would "holding a high ranking position in SIA" mean that your friend's father is highly acquainted with the scholarship selection process and details, unless he works in HR and related depts?

and if that is so, are there any updates he can provide on notification dates for the next round of selection?

I suggest you call their main line and ask to be forwarded to the scholarship department.

Default SIA-a good company

Dear all, I'm guessing the scholarship selection should be out already.

I'm actually an undergrad at a local uni, and just completed my first year. Last year I applied for the SIA open scholarship too, but admittedly my results were not stellar hence I did not get selected. They did send an email last May informing me that I was not shortlisted though.

This year I decided to apply again using my uni grades because they are much better than my A-level grades (blush). My GPA is in the first class honours range, but they did not shortlist me again. I'm guessing they saw my disastrous A-level grades haha.

To be honest, I'm very disappointed with myself because I joined SIA as a cabin crew after my A-levels, and it has been my dream to go back to the company. SIA is really a good company, I hope one day you all have a chance to work there.

All the best!

Don't be disappointed. You don't need to be an SIA scholar to join SIA. Work hard in university and apply again.
