Question SIM's UOL business degree

Are SIM UOL's business degrees as recognized as local unis' business degress here in S'pore?

From what i understand, it is after all under UK's UOL and LSE.

Will employers favour local uni's business degree over SIM UOL business degree?

I am quite sure this has been answered before somewhere in this forum, but generally speaking, there is no real answer to that. It seriously depends on the employers' perceptions of local university degrees VS overseas-degress offered in Singapore.

The UOL business degree is indeed an accredited one by the UOL external programmes, and have been known to include coursework, professors and examination papers similar to the London universities (e.g. LSE). In this aspect, they can be well-regarded.

Employers may however still have some doubts over the quality and rigour of the programmes, as the local degrees are well-known for the rigour (even when compared to any overseas uni) and it really depends on whether the employers are looking for people who have undergone such an education.

What do the others think?

It is rather well-regarded among private-sector employers.

The civil service, stat boards and GLCs on the other hand have a vested interested to give more opportunities to local uni grads isn't it?

Hmm.. But from what i heard, SIM UOL's cert will carry SIM's logo and is stated a UOL external cert.. Dun think it will look as nice as a UOL cert from UK..

Is it possible to apply to SIM UOL den fly over to UK to study full-time and get an internal cert instead?

If so, what will be costs be like and can I apply for a local bank loan to finance my studies in the UK?

I believe this is incorrect. You should check with the current students here:

That said, even IF the certs do not carry the SIM logo, employers are smart enough to tell that you did not spend your last 3 years in london.

Hi everyone,

Do you all know if UOL Business have specialisation for any sector like marketing, hr or management after we study for one or two years? Hope seniors in UOL will answer my questions. Is it difficult to study in UOL also? SInce its a one time exam based.

Thank you thank you!

why dont you enroll in SIM-UB program? The UB degree is recognised by government sectors as well, if that is an area you are concerned with.

It's a bit more expensive of the app fees to apply to SIM-UOL. However, the cut-off point should be around 1.5-2 as long as you are able to pay fees to SIM-UOL should be able to get in. I would also like to know whether the civil/public service sector like govt sectors recognise the SIM-UOL cert?

There are quite a number of SIM-UOL students here, you might want to ask them - http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/de...a-4412306.html
