Default Information Systems Technology and Design (ISTD) pillar

Hi! I'm currently pursuing a diploma in Business IT and am interested in joining SUTD after graduating from poly.

As my diploma focuses on IT, would ISTD be relevant to me, that is, what is the content of the ISTD course? Will it lean more towards IT or engineering?

Thanks

Dear Phrost,

Thank you for your keen interest in applying to Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD).

Students in SUTD have to go through a common curriculum in their first three semesters, in which, they will study subjects like Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Humanities and Engineering fundamental subjects. The purpose of studying these subjects is to give our students a solid foundation to support their specialization study in their pillar years. In their senior year (i.e. Capstone year), students from different pillars come together to do a Capstone project to address critical societal needs, which is unique to SUTD.

The Information Systems Technology and Design (ISTD) covers areas related to information technology, computer science, software engineering and computer engineering. Students in the ISTD pillar have to take up courses such as computer systems engineering, software engineering, IT and data security and machine learning. The ‘outside-in’ model, where the curriculum is designed with inputs from the industry, prepares our students to meet the demands from the industry. Students are also given opportunity to be attached to IT related firms covering from telecommunication service provider, software companies and even to others like IBM, Microsoft and Google.

Do join us at our Admission Briefing on 20 March. You will learn more about our curriculum and meet other students who are in our first intake. There will also be leaders and members from the industry available to share what the industry are looking for in future graduates. You can register at http://www.sutd.edu.sg/rsvp.

Cheers,
SUTD Representative

Sorry for bumping onto this old thread ,

Are there plans of setting up new majors like Computer Science in the coming years ? Or it will remain in the form of "pillar" ?
