Smile Urgently seeking for university advice - between local and UK university

Dear all,

I am urgently seeking for some college advice. I am considering between an offer from LSE (London School of Economics & Social Science) to study Finance and a double degree for Business and Engineering from NUS.

I am currently in a huge dilemma because of the following reasons:

1) Career choice: I wish to become an entrepreneur, after gaining a few years of work experience after university. LSE gives me better employment opportunities, but a double degree may prepare me better for the career I intend to pursue in entrepreneurship.

2) In terms of interest: I hold deep interest in both business and engineering. If I pursue Finance in LSE, I am afraid I may regret not studying engineering in future.

3) Number of years: Double degree with double honours in NUS will take me around 5 years, whilst an undergraduate degree at LSE will only take me 3 years (1 year for Masters). I am unsure if 5 years for a local double degree is worth it.

In summary, I need some sound advice regarding university choices: between LSE and NUS. (conflict between my career interest and employment opp, as well as the duration of study.)

Interested to hear from anyone, be it from personal experience or just friendly advice. Thank you!

1) what kind of Entrepreneur? starting a simple webstore on ebay/tmall/HR/Training/F&B or a company like Google/Apple? employment opportunities here in SG or in UK?

if U can determine what kind of entrepreneur u can better decide your path.

2) that is personal, no one can look into the future and help u decide. what kind of Engineering are you keen in? if U give up finance and do engineering are you able to train your investment skills while juggling school and work. since U can afford LSE not hard to have $$ to play investment for the next 5 yrs to build up good portfolio if u are able to go well in the market.

3) what is worth? Time at uni really depends on how you make use of it. if U are busy with school and not networking be with the right crowd how to become a entrepreneur? if u wish to become a tech entrepreneur or Biz entrepreneur, start by reading up what is common about them to be successful.

if goal is not network but do research with prof and can publish some big time paper and get to become a partner at startup great too. what is your goal to make time worth while?

watch these perhaps

Hi Dinoldo! I came across this platform the other day when I was planning for my overseas studies called Flying Chalks. They help international students enhance their overseas studies experience like you can connect with friends that are going to the same university that you are going to and you can also ask for some advice from those who have been to that university. They have a lot of members that are NUS students btw so you can just ask them more about studying in NUS You can check out their website at www.flyingchalks.com or you can visit their Facebook Page here!

As far as I know, they have quite a few guides on universities all around the world that provide information about accommodation, flights, food outlets, leisure activities, and even comprehensive information about the university and the country you are heading to! Hope this helps!!
