hello everyone! i'm offered nus science and ntu mathematical sciences with minor in finance. like most of you here, i'm in a dilemma. i'm interested in going to the banking and finance industry so i guess statistics will be my first choice? but for now, i don't know which uni to choose. someone care to express your views?

Hi there. Same here, i am intending to go into the banking and finance industry too, that's why I'm more inclined to stats also!

Can't provide you with any advice since all of us are just prospective students! Hahah don't know what we will encounter in the future also!

Anyway how many of you got into NTU's math with minor in finance? I remembered during the open house, their peeps actually said that only a small number would be selected for the course!

ooohh so i'm one of the lucky few? but my grades aren't fantastic. i keep swinging between NUS and NTU. bcos one thing i don't like about NUS is its bidding system. what if i don't get to study the modules i want?

yes, the NUS bidding system is really confusing and complicated.
i read a thread here on this forum regarding the bidding system and how it functions. it is really ohh my goodness. sounds so competitive.

Hi rubbish, i just heard that ntu will also not offer you an honours if you do not do well there. And you will definitely be allocated the major that you want in FoS, there is no allocation based on results/popularity (:

Hi, did you attend the tea party for ntu mathematical sciences last sat? we were told that for specialisation in the second year, there will be NO quota for each specialisation. It is based on you own preference, so you can choose either pure, applied or statistics track...
Not very sure how NUS works.
Yup,ntu offers direct honours, but just like what Cassandra said, you will not get an honour if you do not well enough. But i guess unless if you really do badly, if not you will still be able to get an honour.
