Default SINDA Flag Day

Dear Friends,

SINDA’s Project Give Flag Day 2010 - ‘Help Educate a Child’

SINDA is organising our first ever Project Give Flag Day on Wednesday, 8 December 2010 and we need you to come on board and show your support!

Project Give is SINDA’s annual fund raising campaign to raise funds to support the educational needs of school-going children from low income families. The funds raised are used for educational expenses such as bursaries, fee subsidies/waivers for tuition classes and motivation/enrichment programmes organised by SINDA.

Initiated in 2001 as a community wide effort, Project Give offers an opportunity for organisations and individuals to come together with a common purpose to ensure that no child’s education is compromised due to financial constraints.

We are targeting to engage 1,000 volunteers for the Project Give Flag Day. This can be met with your strong support! Do encourage your members and friends aged 15 years and above to register as Flag Day Volunteers.

For more information on the Flag Day, please contact Ms Punitha at 6393 7218 or
Ms Sujatha at 6393 7253.

To register, log on to www.sinda.org.sg.

We thank you in advance and look forward to your kind support.

Project Give: Touching Lives, Touching Hearts

Best Regards

Muhamed Al Ameen

38th SHIP FOR SOUTHEAST ASIAN YOUTH PROGRAMME (SSEAYP) 2011

The Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Programme (SSEAYP) is an annual exchange programme sponsored by the Japanese Government and supported by the member-countries of ASEAN. Started in 1974, the programme brings together about 300 youths from all ten ASEAN countries and Japan, providing them with the unique opportunity to interact on board the ship Fuji Maru and at different ports-of-call for 53 days. This year, Singapore will be sending 28 participants for the programme.

The 38th SSEAYP is scheduled to be held from 25 October to 16 December 2011. During this period, the participants will visit Japan and five of the ten ASEAN countries, namely Philippines (Manila), Brunei Darussalam (Muara), Indonesia (Jakarta), Malaysia (Port Klang) and Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh). As a participating youth, also known as a PY, you will have the opportunity to take part in various activities on board the ship Fuiji Maru and at each port-of-call. These include discussions on current social issues, cultural performances, sports, homestay, city tours and institutional visits. Most importantly, you will enjoy the friendships forged with friends and locals from Japan and other ASEAN Countries, and get to appreciate at a deeper level the diverse cultures of these countries. The memories onboard the ship will be etched forever in your mind.

Apply Now!

If you are aged between 18 and 30 years old, love to make new friends, learn about different cultures and enjoy working with people, apply for the 38th SSEAYP now! Applicants should preferably have a track record of active youth, community or public service. We are also looking for committed and responsible youths who are team players and can contribute to the Singapore Contingent’s successful preparations for SSEAYP. For more information on SSEAYP and the criteria for selection, please refer to the instructions found in the attached application form. For further information, please visit NYC’s website at www.nyc.pa.gov.sg and look for international partnerships under the Programme tab. The application form can also be downloaded from the website.

The deadline for the submission of applications is 28 April 2011. Please send your completed application form along with the necessary supporting documents to the following address:

If you are thinking whether to apply for SSEAYP, or if you have burning questions to ask about the programme (such as administrative requirements, SSEAYP activities, selection process), this is the chance for YOU to have them all answered. You can ask both ex-participants about the programme and also NYC staff who will be around to share their experiences. It would be a fun and interactive evening for you to find out just why so many youths from ASEAN countries and Japan have such raving reviews and fond memories of their participation in SSEAYP.

The details of the sharing session are as follows:

Date/Time: 30 March 2011 / 7.30pm
Venue: National Youth Council
