As we all know, A-level results are released today across Singapore. Share your A-level results or any thoughts or questions here or simply congratulate others on their achievements!

Hi everyone, BrightSparks was there to cover the release of the A Level results earlier today.

Here are some highlights of the results obtained by the Class of 2010 from Raffles Institution:

University admissions & scholarship offers before release of A-Level results
>50 provisional scholarship offers
Oxford: 32
Cambridge: 27
Ivy League: 20

3 top students: 13 units, 9 distinctions
Barry Tng, Nigel Fong, Kaushik Venkataraman

76 students with >8 distinctions

245 students with >7 distinctions

506 students with >6 distinctions

725 students with >5 distinctions

Sustained percentage of students with perfect university admission score: 28%
This figure for 2009 was also 28%

Percentage of perfect scores: 11%
This figure for 2009 was 9.7%

Best showing in number of students with 3 x H2 passes: 99.2%

Rise in % of 3 x H2 passes + pass in GP/KI
2010: 98.3%
2009: 96.9%

Number of 3As:
786 (or 63%) students scored distinctions in at least 3 content subjects

Number of 4As:
509 (or 43%) students scored distinctions in at least 4 content subjects

New record set for distinction rate of H3 candidates: 47% (or 1 in 2) scored distinctions
This figure for 2009 was 40%

H2 all subjects: 99% pass or higher

H2 subjects with 100% pass :
Art, Chinese Studies in EL, Chinese Lang & Lit, English Lang & Linguistics, Geography, History, Knowledge & Inquiry, Literature in English, Malay Lang & Lit, Music, Physics, Tamil Lang & Lit, Theatre Studies

H2 subjects with >65% As:
Biology, Chemistry, Economics, Geography, German, History, Knowledge & Inquiry, Literature, Malay Lang & Lit, Mathematics, Physics, Tamil Lang & Lit

Distinction rate for General Paper: 53.3% achieved distinction
This figure for 2009 was 48.8%

New record in distinctions for Knowledge & Inquiry: 72% distinction
This figure for 2009 was 64.8%

Top Chinese students
Barry Tng – 9 distinctions
Nigel Fong – 9 distinctions

Top Malay student
Aqilah Bte Abdul Rahim – 8 distinctions

Top Indian student:
Kaushik Venkataraman – 9 distinctions

Top Eurasian student:
Robyn Yzelman – 7 distinctions

Hey guys, we were at Hwa Chong today to cover the release of the A-level results!

Here are some highlights of the results obtained by the Class of 2010 from Hwa Chong Institution:

Hwa Chong has a record of 94 perfect scorers, the best results obtained in 4 years

9 out of 10 students scored A/B in 20 H1 and H2 subjects


Koh Ming Ming of Hwa Chong was the top scorer in Singapore this year, with an impressive 9 Distinctions at 13 AUs.

>60 students scored 8 distinctions or better
>200 students scored 7 distinctions or better
6 out of 10 students scored 3 H2 distinctions


Languages
100% students scored Distinctions in H2 German
90% students scored Distinctions in H2 French
>50% students scored Distinctions in H2 English Language and Literature
70% students scored Distinctions in H1 English Literature

Science
70% students attained Distinctions in H2 Biology
70% students attained Distinctions in H2 Physics
More than 80% of students scored Distinctions in H1 Chemistry

Two students were awarded the Global Medal of Excellence in Physics, presented by the Institute of Physics to top A-level Physics candidates

Humanities
70% students attained Distinctions in H2 Geography
70% students attained Distinctions H2 History


GP
99.1% pass in General Paper with 40% students scoring a Distinction

Many students were accepted into prestigious global universities, namely Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, Princeton and Yale, even before the release of the A-Level results. Congratulations to all!
