Default USA pre-departure preparations

Hey, i've got a question. DO WE NEED TO DECLARE electronic items like laptops and digital cameras in Singapore before heading to the states ?? I was reading somewhere in the US customs website that a form must be filled up prior to the flight ?

Any Singaporeans already there or heading there this coming August care to shed some light on this issue ??

Hi koo86, have renamed your thread to address a general need.

Hmm, I haven't heard about any forms needing to be filled for electronics, but I'm sure it won't be an issue.

Just adding on for future reference: universities tend to require immunisation records, so you should get them before going over.

Thanks for your reply, but I'm already in the states.

I guessed, but this was for future reference (ie, if other people are thinking of the states).

Anyone knows how long it takes for one to obtain a study visa (F-1, if I remember correctly)?

Run -

Generally not long, if all your documents are in order. I had mine ready a few of days after I visited the embassy.

There's definitely a potential for it to take much longer, though. From what I hear, they might take longer to clear you if you're not Singaporean or you're a Muslim male or some other silly reason like that.
