Default Applying to another uni after accepting offer

Hi, I didn't do too well for my A levels this year (UAS 76.25 without MT), which prevents me from going into any of my ideal courses. I was wondering if I could temporarily accept a uni's offer (say mechanical engineering from NTU), then opt to retake my A levels next year. If I do well enough, I want to apply for Business Adm at SMU or NUS, or perhaps Law. Will this disadvantage me in anyway? Is there anything I should take note of?

On a side note, for all Law students out there, is there any opportunities for Law students to work overseas? I don't really fancy the idea of being stuck here in Singapore my whole life.
