Default SPA for private candidates in 2017

Hi everyone. I am planning to retake my A-Levels as a private candidate. Two of my H2 subjects are Biology and Chemistry and I would have to retake SPA for both as the last time I took my SPA in school was in 2015. And according to SEAB, your SPA results can only be brought forward for one year.

Can anyone who has taken the SPA exam as a private candidate advise me on how it is like? Is it the same thing as we do in school? or is it quite different?

Lastly, are there any institutions where I can enroll for SPA lessons only? I am currently serving national service and will only be free on weekends.

This is the last year where private candidates are allowed to take the old syllabus, will the private schools still provide lessons for the old syllabus SPA?
