Post Career shift to finance

Hello,

I will be graduating from NUS with a degree in Civil engineering this year.
I am not really interested in an Engineering job after graduation and would like to find a job in Finance/asset management/IB.
I developed interest in trading in the past few months and will be starting soon..but I would like to get a job in this sector full-time..

Would like to check with you guys whether banks accept Engg. undergrads without any prior experience in banks..
OR Should I get a CFA certification soon as possible?

Thanks

I think for being on safe side you should get the certificate and should not rely on your engineering degree.

Great, another engineer who wants to get into 'investment banking', and who has suddenly discovered a love of 'trading' in the past few months.

Don't blame you, engineers in Singapore don't get their due respect as they do in the US. But its going to be tough. Do you even know what an analyst's job entails? Do you know how an investment bank operates?

Go to salary.sg and inquire there. You'll probably gets better responses there. But you'll probably also be torn to shreds there by the cynical posters. Be prepared.

try getting a summer internship with an IB/PE firm ?

FYI, loads of mainstream Banking & Finance graduates are already working on their CFA, and there are actually a few who have completed theirs
