Default Is computer engineering still relevant in Singapore?

I would like to find out if computer engineering is still relevant in Singapore as I have heard many bad comments from my friends about it. They say I will face the problem of competing with low cost labour from India. What kind of jobs can I expect to get and what companies can I possibly work in?

Also, what kind of things do I have to look out for to know if computer engineering is suitable for me? I have tried learning some programming and I kind of enjoy it to some extent.
