As CN Yang scholars I imagine that you should be able to provide less confusing responses!!

Hi!

This is a common confusion towards our program.

While we are used to addressing a scholarship holder as a 'scholar' these days, the word 'scholar' also has other meanings. In the case of the word 'scholar' in the CN Yang Scholars Programme, it means learned people or a specialist in a certain field. It is the programme's goal to develop passion in science, nurture scientists and engineers and also to cultivate interest in research. Thus, the word 'scholar' in our title reflects the these main objectives.

A scholarship is guaranteed for every member of the programme. While a scholarship holder can also be addressed as a scholar, the monetary benefit is not the key element of the programme. Thus, the word 'scholar' in the programme name does not refer to the scholarship.

A clear example for the use of the word would be NTU's University Scholars Programme. NTU's USP, while having the word 'scholar' in their name, does not guarantee a scholarship for its members. The word 'scholar' in USP carries similar meaning as the one in CN Yang Scholars Programme.

Hope that clears up some doubt towards our programme. Feel free to contact us should you require any further clarification on the programme.

Thanks!

Regards,

CN Yang Scholars' Club

There are also differences between priority and a guarantee for overseas exchange. For your information, the places for overseas exchange are limited and students in NTU have to compete for it based on academic results and various other factors. Being a Nanyang Scholarship holder puts a person ahead of normal students in the competition for exchange places. However, if the competition is too fierce, he/she may not be able to secure an exchange placement. For a CN Yang Scholar, despite the competition, one will surely be offered a one semester exchange placement over the course of his/her study.

Hi!

The interviews for admission to the programme began quite some time ago. The office has also started giving out offers. Since the programme office do not update the club directly on these admin matters, we do not know if the selection process has already ended or is still ongoing.

No matter what, we wish you all the best in your application!

Hi,

I have been offered a place in the CN Yang Scholars programme for my second choice. My first choice is medicine and I am on waitlist for medicine. If I choose to accept the CN Yang Scholars Programme and suppose I get accepted into medicine after a few weeks, would I be allowed to withdraw from the CN Yang Scholars programme? Thank you.

Default Should I go for CN yang scholars programme?

HI!! I am offered to study CBC with Nanyang scholarship in NTU but I am invited for the CN yang scholars interview as well.

I know that if I get into the program, I will start learning about research in year 1. However, I am not sure if research is really what I want to do because I don't have any research experience e.g H3

In this case, I guess I have to pass the offer? Any advice pls ><
I guess I can still pursue research after graduating right?
