US Legal Consultant - Make a Meaningful Impact from the Comfort of Your Own Home

The International Humanity Foundation (IHF) was founded in 2001 and works with children in impoverished communities through our Children’s Homes and Education Centers in Thailand, Kenya, and Indonesia. Our mission is to educate impoverished children—activating their highest potential—and also to educate global citizens through real life experiences, about the realities of impoverished communities and the value of other cultures.

Legal Consultant
IHF is currently seeking At-Home Volunteers for our International Legal Team. This team will provide expertise regarding legal concerns for IHF as a 501(c)(3) registered in the USA. Volunteers are expected to research and provide solutions to the any legal issues that IHF faces in relation to our international charity organization work/status. Legal Consultants will have the opportunity to work directly with our Executive Team.
An At-Home volunteer in this position will:
Draft and/or execute contracts related to human resources, corporate collaborations, and our international programs
Compile research requested by IHF relating to topics such as maintaining our NGO status or procedures for soliciting donations
Prepare documentation related to our 501(c)(3) status, taxation, banking etc. on behalf of IHF
Represent IHF in U.S. legal proceedings if necessary
Liaise with other members of our International Legal Team
IHF will provide all the necessary background and support for you to be successful in this position.

Administrative Assistant
IHF is currently seeking At-Home Volunteers to be an Executive Assistant to the COO. Work on a one-to-one basis on a variety of tasks related to COO’s working life and communication. We are looking for a responsible Personal Assistant to provide secretarial and administrative support in a well-organized and timely manner.

An At-Home volunteer in this position will complete a broad variety of administrative tasks for the COO including:
Maintaining digital records of ongoing executive projects
Coordinating executive outreach and external relations efforts
Plan, coordinate and ensure the COO's extremely active calendars is followed and respected
Prioritize conflicting needs; handle matters expeditiously, proactively, and follow-through on projects to successful completion, often with deadline pressures

The center is located in Kenya’s Rift Valley, in an area known as the African Great Lakes region, meaning when you are not volunteering, you are within two hours of some of the most spectacular national parks, wildlife, and adventure experiences you will find anywhere in Africa. Legacy Traveler- You can volunteer for a minimum of 4 hours each day helping out with any of the local tasks above. The rest of your time is free to explore the incredible surroundings of our center.

Legacy Volunteer- Add value to our NGO by volunteering for an additional 4 hours each day by working for one of our online teams and gaining practical experience in an NGO environment. IHF has no centralised administrative offices and so relies on volunteers coming to our centers to help manage and support our international activities.You will receive a certification on completion of your program, a letter of recommendation upon request, and qualify for a discounted rate for your stay. This role requires volunteers agree to make additional commitments for the duration of their stay and will have less time for tourism and personal activities. It is best suited to volunteers interested in gaining practical experience working for an International NGO.

Legacy Specialist- Do you have any special skills or training which would be useful to the center, the community or the people we support? Legacy Traveler- Those committing 4 hours per day for between 2 and 4 weeks will pay $200 per week.

Legacy Volunteer- Volunteers commiting 8 hours per day for a minimum of 4 weeks will pay $100 per week.

Accommodation and meals, prepared by a local member of staff, are included in this program. All program fees go towards supporting our centers, running our programs, and caring for our children. You’ll have a fabulous tourism experience whilst ensuring your money is supporting a wonderful cause you’ll get to see with your own eyes.

Not included are your travel costs to and from our IHF Center, immunizations, travel insurance, visa fees, and any spending money you wish to bring with you.

Locations
Volunteers have the option to complete their program at any of our IHF Education Centers located in Jakarta, Bali, and Medan. Our centers across Indonesia operate free and open classes for students ages 6 to 18, taught by local teachers in congruence with international volunteers. We strive to develop global leaders with cross cultural experiences through the teaching of core competencies in addition to offering leadership and life skills training. Each center will present the volunteer with unique challenges in terms of management of local volunteers, classroom management, and community engagement, in addition to being trained on the operational procedures required to oversee the successful management of an NGO.

Train in the core components of an international organization (including management skills, policy and procedures, finance, fundraising, media & PR, donor relations, and recruitment)

Manage local volunteers and shape their experience at our IHF Education Center

The program requires a minimum time commitment of 4 months, though we encourage volunteers to stay for up to 1 year or more.

IHF has no centralised administrative offices and thus relies on volunteers across the globe to help manage and support our international programs and projects remotely.

Overview
The International Humanity Foundation (IHF) was founded in 2001 and works with children in impoverished communities through our Children’s Homes and Education Centers in Thailand, Kenya, and Indonesia. Our mission is to educate impoverished children—activating their highest potential—and also to educate global citizens through real life experiences, about the realities of impoverished communities and the value of other cultures.
Our At-Home Volunteers support this work remotely, from their homes around the world. An At-Home volunteer should have access to a dependable computer, wifi connection, and experience with Google Suites applications is a plus.

Legal Consultant
IHF is currently seeking At-Home Volunteers for our Kenya Legal Team. This team will provide expertise regarding legal concerns for the IHF Kenya Team located in Nakuru. Volunteers are expected to research and provide solutions to the any legal issues that IHF faces in relation to our international charity organization work/status in Kenya. Legal Consultants will have the opportunity to work directly with our Executive Team.
An At-Home volunteer in this position will:
Draft and/or execute contracts related to human resources, land rights, and corporate collaborations
Compile research requested by IHF relating to topics such as maintaining our Kenyan NGO status or visa procedures for international volunteers
Prepare documentation related to local government, legal status, taxation, banking etc. on behalf of IHF
Represent IHF in Kenyan legal proceedings if necessary
IHF will provide all the necessary background and support for you to be successful in this position.

Eligibility
IHF is looking for individuals who can commit to a minimum 2-3 hours per week with a passion for social activism, support for global development through the legal sector, and are willing to give back through pro-bono service.

At-Home Volunteers accepted to this position will also have:
Formal knowledge of the Kenyan legal process
Confidence using the English language (both spoken and written)
Proficiency in Google Suite applications
Deep empathy for impoverished children and their communities
A commitment to our Core Values

Note: Candidate does not have to be a practicing lawyer. Current law students and paralegals are also welcome to apply.
